The QTI Group has been exclusively retained by Madison Ballet to recruit for their next CEO, Performing Arts.  Madison Ballet seeks an Executive Director/Chief Executive Officer to strengthen and elevate the organization’s mission and goals. The Ballet is focused on rebuilding and growing the next generation of its 38-year-old agency. As a youth arts organization, its mission is to cultivate engagement with the performing arts through professional ballet education, training and experiences accessible to dance connoisseurs, novices and professionals alike, as an integral partner in a vibrant Madison arts community.

The Executive Director/CEO will be an entrepreneurial business leader who will lead the strategic vision of the organization, be proactive in community engagement and donor development, work collaboratively across multiple constituencies, and provide leadership within the Ballet organization.


  • Develop, plan and execute the organization’s strategic vision, including new target audience developmen
  • Actively cultivate relationships with key donors, artistic and corporate partners
  • Lead fundraising efforts to support the organization, including the design and execution of annual and specific campaigns
  • Represent and promote the Ballet to the larger community through public speaking, strategic marketing, and media relations
  • Ensure School, Performance, and Outreach divisions are structured and implemented to deliver high quality experiences for constituencies
  • Responsible for overall profit/loss for organization and long-term financial stability
  • Foster a creative, positive, and focused work environment
  • Provide leadership and guidance to staff and direct supervision to the Artistic and Managing Directors
  • Oversee the effective administration of operations for the organization
  • Communicate and work effectively with the Board by providing timely and accurate information necessary for the Board to function properly and to make informed decisions


  •  An entrepreneurial spirit, preferably including experience developing partnerships with multiple stakeholder groups
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • A minimum of three years of senior level for-profit or nonprofit work experience is preferred
  • Successful sales or resource development, fundraising, and philanthropy experience – can be through volunteerism/board service
  • A solid knowledge of accounting, budgeting, financial management and marketing
  • Experience in leading the process of ongoing strategic planning
  • Extensive experience in public speaking/public relations
  • Ability to cultivate new audience targets
  • A deep interest in or passion/commitment to the performing arts
  • Proven track record of success in a leadership position developing and maintaining solid relationships with multiple stakeholder groups
  • Interest and understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion as it relates to access to arts
