About the Opportunity

Overture Center for the Arts is looking to add a new Director of Development for Corporate Partnerships to its team.

 The Director of Development for Corporate Partnerships assists the Vice President of Development in the creation of an annual fundraising plan to develop, implement, and evaluate a variety of fundraising strategies that will maximize revenue opportunities for Overture and maximize value for corporate donors. Specifically, the Director of Development for Corporate Partnerships performs prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship related to fundraising from corporations, corporate foundations, and corporate leaders. In coordination with the Vice President of Development, the Director of Development for Corporate Partnerships develops a strategy to attract and maintain corporate sponsorship gifts. The Director of Development for Corporate Partnerships will oversee the Development Coordinator for Corporate Partnerships, who will assist in executing corporate fundraising strategy through proposal creation, partnership agreements, event planning and benefits fulfillment.


  • Develop objectives, priorities and strategies for corporate, sponsorship and foundation development in collaboration with the VP of Development, VP of Marketing, Development Committee and other stakeholders.
  • Manage a portfolio of corporate, corporate foundation, and corporate leadership prospects and donors to advance them through the development process.
  • Build on career portfolio of local prospects capable of major gift commitments of at least $5,000.
  • Maintain personal contact and relationships with corporate program officers and marketing executives.
  • Develop proposals, with the assistance of the Development Coordinator, to match needs/opportunities with interests and capabilities.
  • Collaborate with Development Committee, Board and Grants and Foundations Manager on corporate and corporate foundation giving opportunities, assessing ongoing relationships, identify mutual opportunities and benefits and implement new initiatives to leverage additional support.
  • Identify and research applicable prospects including corporate leaders who can commit to a $100,000+ challenge grant.
  • Plan and conduct events and activities to build and maintain relationships effectively presenting the case for sponsorship and/or philanthropic support.
  • Serve as key Development contact for Overture’s Frostiball gala, with direct responsibility for the Frostiball sponsorship plan, securing sponsors and achieving revenue goals.
  • Work closely with Marketing and team members to “package” projects or programs to align with the interests of corporate and foundation donors.
  • In Overture’s donor management system, track prospect cultivation, solicitation and development activities and results.
  • Draft content for sponsorship materials and other written materials in coordination with communications staff.
  • Keep abreast of changes and new developments in the sponsorship and corporate fundraising field through attendance at seminars and workshops and through active involvement in related professional organizations.
  • Maintain a high community profile in a way that reflects well on Overture Center and its goals, vision and values.

 Qualifications and Attributes Sought

  • At least 5 years’ experience in fundraising or sales, with demonstrated experience in identifying, cultivating, soliciting and closing gifts/sales to create a pipeline for support. Experience with sponsorships and/or corporate clients preferred.
  • A commitment to fundraising for the arts, an interest in Overture Center programming, and the ability to articulate a compelling case for support.
  • Experience working with volunteer boards and committees.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to write and deliver compelling presentations.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multi-layered, fast-paced team environment, managing people and projects effectively with a customer-service orientation and growth mindset.
  • Ability to effectively manage and mentor the Development Coordinator, who will report directly to the Director of Development for Corporate Partnerships.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and development or CRM software.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education and related experience.
