Director of People, Talent, and Culture

Urban Land Interests

The QTI Group is excited to partner with Urban Land Interests (ULI) to hire its next Director of People, Talent, and Culture. The Director will report to ULI’s new President and partner closely with him to support a feedback-rich culture where teammates are valued and respected. The Director will serve on the executive leadership team and will have one direct report and will support a workforce of around 120 employees.
This Director will balance HR strategy with hands-on day-to-day execution. You will manage and implement all HR services, policies, and programs and serve as the guiding force of ULI’s mission to create a workplace where teammates can succeed.
People & Culture
  • Function as the HR resource and advisor to company leadership while serving as a thought leader on all matters concerning people operations and culture 
  • Develop, implement, and support people initiatives, practices, and programs (e.g., Performance Reviews, Training and Development, Retention, Culture, etc.)
  • Collaborate with company leadership on the development and implementation of company goals to ensure that HR practices are aligned with business objectives and core values
  • Develop, manage, and implement HR processes such as recruiting, onboarding, training, development, performance management, and organizational staff planning
  • Design and implement programs and policies that enhance employee engagement
  • Guide the company in succession planning, leadership development, and people development
  • Create programs to encourage professional growth and community engagement
Operations Duties
  • Ensure that teammates have the tools and resources needed to be successful in delivering on ULI's core Values and Mission
  • Create and measure key metrics designed to translate into employee satisfaction, performance, engagement, and retention
  • Work with Directors, Managers and Supervisors to create effective training and development programs
  • Manage and administer a comprehensive benefits package designed to foster culture, support existing and attract new teammates, and ensure ULI is an employer of choice 
  • Communicate personnel policies and procedures clearly and ensure compliance with such policies
  • Assist the leadership team in the development and subsequent annual review and administration of wage and salary program
  • Coordinate or conduct exit interviews. Track trends and apply that information to implement organizational or cultural changes when warranted
  • Consult with legal counsel as appropriate, or as directed by the President, on employee matters
  • Assess HRIS needs, analyze & present options, and recommend system improvements
  • Guide and manage the staff of the human resource department, currently a staff of one
  • Ensure compliance with all Employment, Benefits, Payroll and Wage-hour Laws
  • Maintain knowledge of current industry trends and best practices
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with teammates, managers, leaders, and owners
  • Experienced leader capable of sound and mature decisions in challenging situations
  • Demonstrated ability to remain objective and fair when navigating difficult employee relation issues
  • History of integrity, discretion, and ethical behavior in all work situations with a strong understanding and respect for maintaining confidentiality
  • Demonstrated understanding of labor and benefits laws, benefit plan administration, payroll processes, and recruiting
  • Experience developing and managing onboarding and training programs
  • Experience developing and managing effective performance review programs
  • Degree in Human Resources, with SPHR/SHRM certification preferred
  • Professional experience working in Human Resources for 10+ years, preferably in property management, hospitality, or family-owned business
  • Experience with and knowledge of HRIS systems
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite of products
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
