The National Credit Union Foundation (the Foundation) is a non-profit charitable organization that strives to make financial freedom achievable through credit unions. At the Foundation, we believe that all consumers should have the education, tools and resources needed to achieve financial freedom. Through Foundation grants and programs, credit unions provide widespread financial education, create greater access to appropriate and affordable financial services, and empower more consumers to save, build assets, and own homes.


Organizational Background

Established in 1980 through the trade association Credit Union National Association (CUNA), the Foundation works nationally and internationally through its offices in Washington, DC and Madison, WI. The organization has an operating budget of approximately $3.1 million, total liabilities and net assets of $9.6 million and a current staff of 10 people. The majority of the organization’s revenues are from corporate donations and investments within the credit union system.


Summary


National Credit Union Foundation is excited to announce an opening for a Financial Health & Well Being Senior Manager to join their fast-paced, creative, and dynamic team. This integral role will report to the Director of Programs & Impact and provide leadership for the Foundation’s financial well-being for all initiative. This role will manage the day-to-day strategy implementation and outreach to advance credit unions, develop and implement the grant-making process, and create and present content while developing products and managing projects within a collaborative team environment.


Responsibilities


  • Leads the Foundation’s financial well-being for all day-to-day strategy implementation and outreach to advance the Foundation’s vision of making financial freedom achievable through credit unions.
  • Leverages speaking opportunities to provide input, guidance, connections, and resources to credit unions on how to measure, build a strategy and take action to advance financial health and well-being for all.
  • Collaborates with the Program Team to lead the development and integration of the Foundation’s financial health & well-being resources and information (e.g., white papers, toolkits, etc.) into the Foundation’s other program offerings like the Development Education™ Program and Exploring Why™ Workshops.
  • Collaborates with CUNA to effectuate synergy between the Foundation and CUNA on execution of a financial well-being for all strategy. Participates in other credit union system-wide efforts to advance financial well-being for all.
  • Provides subject matter input in the development of the Foundation’s perspective on key financial well-being for all areas of focus.
  • Working closely with the Foundation’s MarComms team, authors articles, social media posts, white papers, and blogs that highlight the Foundation’s work on financial health & well-being for all.
  • Leads and executes the impact grantmaking process. Manages the grantee relationship and tracks progress and impact of grants made by the Foundation to credit unions to foster advancements in financial health and well-being for all.
  • Develops and implements a process, working closely with the Foundation’s MarComms team, to share grant insights, learnings, what works and what doesn’t to advance consumer financial health and well-being for all.
  • Serves as the primary Foundation team member responsible for the dynamic, timely, credit union-relevant content creation, curation, and presentation, providing credit unions a thorough resource they can turn to regardless of the stage of their financial well-being for all journey.
  • Leads and manages content, speaker and agenda activities and ensures on-site execution of the CU FinHealth™ Conference, in collaboration with the Foundation’s co-hosts, the Cornerstone Foundation and the CA/NV Credit Union Leagues. Organizes and manages subsidiary webinars or other events associated with CU FinHealth™.



Qualifications


  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree; Graduate/Master’s a plus.
  • 8+ years of increasing responsibility and experience working in the financial health and well-being field at either a national organization or government entity as well as exceptional project management experience.
  • A passion for and commitment to the mission of the Foundation.
  • Relationship management skills working with large financial institutions, credit unions, nonprofit organizations, and/or technology firms.
  • Superior organizational, project and time management skills with strong attention to detail and deadlines.
  • A highly effective communicator with excellent oral, written, presentation and facilitation skills and the ability to quickly synthesize data and present succinct, cogent arguments verbally and in writing.
  • High degree of flexibility to work in an innovative, fast-paced environment and readily embrace change. An ability to perform effectively under pressure, multitask and to practice strong organizational skills when faced with multiple, time-sensitive priorities.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to think strategically, creatively, and tactically and work independently and collaboratively, productively engaging with others at all levels within and outside the organization.
  • Ability to commit to up to 30% of time to domestic travel.
  • Mature and proactive, with evidence of having worked as a true business partner to the executive leadership of a multi-state and network-based entity.
  • An ability to inspire trust, manage and collaborate with cross-functional teams, and motivate staff to work well together in a diverse workplace.
