Summary
The QTI Group is delighted to partner with Dairyland Electrical Industries to hire its next Senior Electrical Design Engineer. With a high level of design authority for electrical aspects of products, the Senior Design Engineer will typically perform work related to new product development. We seek an active and engaged team member modeling exceptional service with a solutions and results-oriented mindset.

Location: Dairyland’s Stoughton, Wisconsin, headquarters

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical guidance in new product development (NPD) projects, plus occasional sustaining efforts as needed.
  • Electrical design authority for releases to production, including but not limited to drawing releases, verification test plan completion, and recurring production tests.
  • Support product certification efforts as needed.
  • Innovate in the creation of new products and assist in modification of existing products.
  • Design circuits, electrical schematics, and parts lists.
  • Analyze new and existing circuits.
  • Perform and/or oversee creation of printed circuit board design and software development as necessary.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation for internal and external use, including design files, product assembly manuals and application documentation.
  • Lead engineering projects.
  • Provide technical application assistance to customers and staff.
  • Support manufacturing via troubleshooting, testing, and development of automation systems.
  • Provide technical content and assistance to Marketing, as needed.
  • Provide technical and sales support at trade shows and conferences, including presentations, as needed. (up to 10% travel for occasional out-of-state trade shows and conferences)
  • Provide product field training or testing services for customers as needed.

Qualifications & Competencies
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 7+ years total professional experience, with at least 3 years of electrical design / new product design (NPD); power electronics experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of the following:
    • Design of control circuits, power components, and systems for power applications
    • Circuit analysis, component evaluation, and testing
  • Exposure and/or experience with any of the following skills is beneficial:
    • Analog logic and control circuit design
    • Power semiconductor evaluation (diodes, SCRs, MOSFETs)
    • Analysis and selection of major electrical components (inductors, capacitors)
    • Power and heat transfer calculations
    • Power supply design
    • PCB layout, packaging, digital design
  • Strong computer skills, including LabView and Microsoft Office
  • Outstanding technical aptitude
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including technical writing
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
