Summary
The QTI Group is proud to partner with a large family-owned construction company to hire its next Chief Financial Officer due to an upcoming retirement. As a member of the executive leadership team, you will drive financial performance, mitigate risk, and help steer the company toward continued long-term success.
The CFO leads all financial operations – reporting, planning, compliance, and risk management – and serves as a key advisor to the CEO and the leadership team. You will work closely with internal departments and external partners to ensure the company remains financially sound, scalable, and well-positioned for continued growth.

Financial Strategy, Budgeting, and Reporting
- Lead monthly and quarterly financial reporting and forecasting with accuracy and clarity.
- Prepare annual and rolling budgets, sales projections, and job-specific budgets.
- Provide actionable insight to management on trends, variances, and financial results.
- Partner with external auditors and tax firms to ensure accurate filings and compliance.
- Prepare and communicate quarterly updated budgets with internal stakeholders
Tax Compliance and Payroll Oversight
- Oversee all tax-related reporting and coordinate timely filings.
- Ensure accurate payroll and benefits administration, especially for union labor.
- Maintain compliance with sales/use tax, EEO reporting, and other regulatory requirements.
- Lead Accounting team to confirm jobs are properly set up and transactions correctly taxed.
- Manage compliance reporting with customers and governmental agencies
Risk management and Contractual Oversight
- Review major contracts and negotiate favorable terms with customers, general contractors, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Evaluate job/project risk and reward to support financially sound bid decisions.
- Collaborate with insurance brokers to ensure adequate coverage.
Other Exciting Responsibilities
- Advise CEO on strategic investments, capital needs, and business opportunities.
- Train and mentor finance staff and educate internal stakeholders, including Project Managers, on financial principles.
- Develop cost structures, markups, and rate models (i.e., labor rates) to improve project profitability.
- Partner across departments to enhance alignment and improve financial outcomes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or MBA preferred.
- 15+ years of progressive finance experience, ideally with construction or project-based companies.
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, income tax, and payroll/benefits.
- High integrity, sound judgment, and a drive to continuously improve operations.
- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills—able to engage at all levels.
