Network Administrator
Hybrid role / Waunakee, WI
Purpose and Objectives:
Maintains computing environment by identifying network requirements; installing upgrades; monitoring network performance. Manages Windows and Linux servers. Creates and manages system user accounts. Provides internal customer service for Windows and Macintosh computers and Android and iOS mobile devices. Follows and maintains Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Essential/Specific Duties and Tasks:
  • Deploy, configure, and manage virtual machines (VMs) and containers using Proxmox.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot Proxmox clusters, ensuring high availability and optimal performance.
  • Engage in regular network troubleshooting activities and resolve network connectivity issues.
  • Create and manage Active Directory and Group Policy objects.
  • Configure and manage network hardware.
  • Configure end node devices to communicate on wired and wireless networks.
  • Configure and support remote connections and VPN.
  • Manage Windows and Linux servers, including daily operation, updates, and maintenance.
  • Ensure information security through end user education, Security Appliances, Firewalls, and Anti-Malware Software.
  • Maintain network performance by performing network monitoring and analysis, and performance tuning; troubleshooting network problems; escalating problems to vendor.
  • Provide internal customer support for printers, Windows, and Mac hardware and software.
  • Track support requests and document resolutions.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications (including Education, Physical Demands, Working Conditions, Equipment Used, Other Required Skills):
  • Associates (2-year) degree in a technical field or related professional certification.
  • Proven experience managing a large and complex network.
  • Windows Active Directory and Group Policy administration experience.
  • Experience supporting and managing Cisco switches and routers.
  • Experience managing enterprise Firewalls and Security Appliances. Experience with Check Point appliances a plus.
  • Working knowledge of network topologies and protocols; TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLAN, etc.
  • Windows and Linux server administration experience.
  • Experience building and managing VPNs and remote connections.
  • VoIP phone system administration experience.
  • Working knowledge of fundamental operations of Windows and Macintosh based computers and related equipment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to be onsite/oncall for emergencies.
