Job Description

The QTI Group has been retained by a family-owned manufacturing organization in Mineral Point to recruit a Tool Maker & Fixture Builder.
As a key member of the design, manufacture and engineering team, the Tool Maker & Fixture Builder cooperates with production and design staff to support the company’s daily manufacturing operations as well as prototyping efforts.  The Tool Maker & Fixture Builder will be expected to provide high-level machine shop expertise working with a variety of machine tools to fabricate required components, fixtures, and/or tooling.  He or she will also assist in troubleshooting, repairing, optimizing, all the machines, equipment, and fixtures on the factory floor.

Duties & Responsibilities:
•    Design, develop, and fabricate tooling & fixtures required to produce the company’s products.
•    Develop concept models & product prototypes for new products.
•    Complete design calculations, analyses, drawings, and documentation.
•    Perform both simple and complex setups on all factory machinery and fixtures.
•    Develop customer and technical requirements for new products or product enhancements, working in concert with marketing, sales, and 
      design staff.
•    Create and edit drawings (AutoCAD / Solidworks) for all parts, equipment, and/or fixtures.
•    Troubleshoot, repair, and optimize all the machines, equipment, and fixtures on the factory floor.
•    Work with outside resources such as designers, consultants, analysts & vendors.
•    Assist in the training of employees on production procedures and machine setup.
•    Work independently and be willing to assist others upon request.
•    Demonstrate progress on multiple projects & follow each through to timely production.
•    Perform other job-related functions as assigned by Manager or Supervisor.

Qualifications:

•    Formal training in the area of engineering and/or manufacturing technology.
•    Prior professional experience in hands-on machining, metal fabrication, tool & die making, and fixture building.
•    Must be comfortable with the setup and operations of machine tools & equipment.  Experience both programming & operating CNC 
      machinery.
•    Accomplished shop related math skills and ability to interpret models / prints.
•    Must be proficient with both creating and/or editing AutoCAD / Solidworks drawing files
•    Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and proven ability to work effectively with all organizational levels
•    Initiative to learn additional functions in the workplace.
•    A positive outlook and a pleasant manner; demonstrated use of tact and discretion.
